From the beginning, sandalwood oil brand Dutjahn had a unique story to tell: ensuring Aboriginal people have a fair and equitable share in the sandalwood business through the commercialisation of sandalwood oil.

  • With 50% of the company owned by Indigenous Australians, every drop can be considered an economic exchange of Aboriginal culture.

The rebrand began by considering how Dutjahn could be represented in a modern and memorable way, whilst also highlighting their ethical position to the fragrance industry.

A new logo spoke to the sacred wood and their proud Aboriginal narrative, and was designed to look comfortable in the company of the perfume brands the oil often forms an earthy base note for.

Through bespoke imagery, colour and graphics, we sought to acknowledge the beauty of Country that the product originates from, as well as celebrate the ancient culture and generations of people behind the brand. From the website to packaging and promotional materials, we built guidelines and developed an elevated look and feel to bring a richness and consistency to the brand and its messaging.
